Join Canadian Heritage colleagues for this opportunity to learn about two Canadian Heritage programs that support the heritage sector. This session will primarily focus on the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund
and the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program
, including the Legacy Fund. Both programs provide essential funding that can help communities protect and renew places that matter for the enjoyment of Canadians. A presentation about the guidelines for each program will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions about your project.
The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund
aims to contribute to the improvement of physical conditions for professional arts and heritage related collaboration, creation, presentation, preservation, and exhibition. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment, and feasibility studies related to cultural infrastructure projects.
The Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program
increases opportunities for local artists, artisans, heritage performers or specialists to be involved in their community through festivals, events and projects. The Legacy Fund
component provides funding for community-initiated capital projects that restore, renovate or transform an existing building or exterior space (such as a statue, community hall, monument, garden or work of art) intended for community use. Eligible capital projects are those that commemorate the 100th anniversary or greater (in increments of 25 years), of a significant local historical event or personality.
